The Instructor

Aaden Black – School Owner

2nd Dahn Black Belt (Kyo Sa Nim)

I started my Kuk Sool Won training with Master Don Mackenzie in Edinburgh at the age of 12 in 1997, and now have over 15 years of experience. At the time I had already spent a couple of years practising other Martial Arts, and was quickly becoming bored with what felt like doing the exact same class 3 to 4 times a week. Initially I thought the same thing would happen with Kuk Sool Won, but within my first few lessons had discovered something completely different to my expectations. What I discovered was a Martial Art where you are constantly learning and developing, in a class full of some of the best people I have ever met.

In 2002 at the age of 18 I was awarded my black belt by In Hyuk Suh, our Grand Master and Founder. A year later my training was interrupted for a few years whilst I attended university, before returning to continue. It was at this point that I started teaching Kuk Sool with my instructor Master Don in his newly founded Falkirk school. Here I realised that teaching Kuk Sool is what I wanted to commit my future to, thanks to the enthusiasm shown by the students and appreciation of what I was sharing. Ever since, I have dedicated myself to regular training, studying, and have travelled around the UK to learn from other instructors, so that I can expand my own understanding of martial arts to pass down to my students.

Now in 2012 I have opened my own school in Cambuslang, Glasgow, with the aim of sharing my knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for Kuk Sool Won with new students in Cambuslang and the surrounding area.
